Art in the Community

As we all know, Helston and The Lizard is a haven for artists of all disciplines. And for the first time this year the artists of the future from Helston Community College are bringing their work into the community. Every year the art students of Helston Community college stage an exhibition of their work at the college, the event is well attended by parents and students but his year, for one day only, they will be showcasing their exhibition at the Old Cattle Market and inviting the pubic along. The exhibition will feature work from: Year 13 A Level Fine Art, Photography, Textiles and Media Studies BTEC Level 3 Art and design Students The event is open to the public from 4.30pm - 8.00pm on Tuesday 8th July.

Sad Farewell to Helston Farmers’ Market Controller

After 6 years and 86 farmers’ markets, Joanne Schofield is stepping down as Market Controller at the next Helston farmers’ market on this Saturday the 7th June between 9.30 and 1.30pm. ‘It has been a wonderful experience being involved in the process from the very beginning and seeing the market become the largest of its kind in Cornwall’, says Joanne. ‘With the help and support of South Kerrier Alliance, volunteers, fantastic local producers and an ever increasing numbers of shoppers, the market has grown to become one of the best markets in the County. Free 30 mins parking to be introduced in all Council run car parks

Cornwall Council is continuing its series of parking offers with a new scheme offering free parking for half an hour in all Council run car parks. The offer, which begins on 1 March and runs until 20 April, has been developed in response to calls from some local businesses for a free first half hour of parking to allow people to make a flying visit to their local town centre. The Council will be monitoring the response to this offer to assess how much demand there is for free half hour parking and where that demand is greatest. Farmers’ Market and Hope returns

After a well-earned holiday break in January, Helston Farmers’ Market is back this Saturday 1st February at the Old Cattle Market building and will continue to trade on the first Saturday of each month throughout the year. Two December farmers’ markets in Helston

Helston Farmers’ Market are holding two markets this month, one on Saturday 7th December and a Christmas Food Market on Saturday 21st. With a wonderful selection of fresh, local produce from over 35 producers, the market also provides the opportunity to order ahead on the 7th December and pick up just before Christmas on the 21st. For Christmas shoppers, there will be freshly cut, local trees affordably priced that will last for weeks along with handmade wreaths and decorations.
